Texas Gov. urged against cancer order (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070206/ap_on_he_me/cervical_cancer)
Another news story I thought I'd share and get feedback on.
My belief is that legislating health care life this takes away people's rights. Do others agree with that? If not, why?

Greetings. Thank you to our 1st poster! I'll jump right in.
Your statement presumes "people" have a set of rights to begin with. What "rights" are "taken away" and by what or whom?
Whose "rights"?
According to current vaccine theory [and it is only theory as there is no acceptably verified documentation that vaccinations prevent or lessen any disease--the ongoing whooping cough epidemic demonstrates that], if you do not take the vaccine, you may run the risk of contracting the disease. Then, if you do indeed contract the disease, in theory and the outcome assured is that you cannot infect someone else who has been vaccinated. (Both children and adults who are fully vaccinated are getting whooping cough, with similar symptoms/severity in all groups.)
I predict no one will get too riled up. People know it's wrong for many reasons, but this is nothing new. Rights? There's an opt-out you know. We won't bring up the fact that any age little girl can decide she wants an abortion.

Is this not a voluntary option? That is how i understood it to be. The option is available ( where once it was not) for women to have access to the vaccine. If you decide that it is not for you then that is your choice.
The only problem I see is that if the vacine is or was avaiable to any individual who refused or abstained and later was found to have the problem. Could the authorities refuse to provide insured medical treatment to that individual?.

Yes, it did end up being semi-voluntary. Voluntary means there is no pressure or "carrot/stick" rule changes or conditions that are in affect for submitting or not submitting to this medical procedure pushed by the government (in this case, government-run schools).
Are you really a person who's career is legal services? "Insured medical treatment" ? Treatment is based on confirmed diagnosis and whether or not the patient's insurance covers it. The two elements you attempt to associate are not connected. Especially the element of vaccines.
Here's a couple more legally pertinent questions. How many millions of dollars is the manufacturer of a seriously invasive medical technique (unproven and never trial tested) paying for each and every death that it has already caused? Are they paying completely (every cent) for all the ongoing medical for each and every patient who has had bodily injury due to the vaccine?

If by "authorities" (that term needs to be defined specifically) you are using that term to refer to the federal, state or local law-making and promugating agencies, and they refuse payment on a non-elective treatment under their welfare medical plans that are normally covered for everyone, that is discrimination. With the AIDS, Hep B, Hep C, etc. epidemics... that would be fairly stupid. That would be like saying if you don't use condoms, we won't treat you. Now, how long have condoms been available?
Government agency actions are often "fairly stupid" so if they had the ability to refuse, that is tyranny. We're accustomed to that. Review the current battle over Codex and the "control" over foods and food supplements and time-honored and cutting edge new, effective and safe medical treatments.
